The large Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica, a 10 minute walk from the In Rome Residence, is one of the four Roman Basilicas along with St. John's, St. Paul's and St. Peter's. The magnificent interiors are amazingly rich with beautiful mosaics and frescos while the exterior, apse created by Carlo Rainaldi, architect of the twin churches in Piazza del Popolo, is just as if not more beautiful than the facade. |
